Our addition is complete and fully occupied!

After a long wait, the portables are empty and classes have moved into new locations inside the school. The Kindergarten, Grade One and Grade Two classes have moved into the addition, and our Grade 2/3, Grade 3 and Grade 4 classes are in what used to be the Primary wing. While the move was a lot of work, the teachers and students are thrilled with their new spaces.  Classes from the portables are still adjusting to the fact that they no longer need to wear boots and coats to visit the gym, library or washrooms.  We look forward to showing off the many enhancements that have been made to Bridgeport School!

For now, please enjoy the photographs posted below!

Bridgeport Goes Boomerang
Along with the change to new classrooms for most students came a change in the way we handle lunch waste. On Monday, February 1st, we began implementation of the Boomerang Lunch.  All students boomerang their lunch by taking home any waste, compostables and recyclables that they bring. There are several advantages to this:
- recyclable containers can be put in the Blue Box at home (the school has no space for the big carts)
- parents will see exactly what gets eaten (currently much food goes straight into the garbage)
- less chance of losing reusable containers
- save money (reusable containers can be filled from larger ones (cheaper than buying single serving sizes)
Teams of students visited each class to discuss tips for making an easy to clean, reduced waste or waste free lunch.

With your help, we can make Bridgeport a Gold Certified Eco-School!
